Summit County, Colorado|13,852 ft

Crystal Peak

A Tenmile Range summit day built around an alpine start, a snowfield crossing and a ridgeline scramble to the top.

Hikers with poles climbing a trail as the sun rises behind the trees

Headlamps on before dawn and moving by first light, so the crew is high on the mountain before the afternoon weather builds.

Two athletes with trekking poles looking up the mountain at sunrise

Small crews, big days

Guides who know your pace by the first mile, and a crew that moves together from the trailhead to the summit and back.

A true misogi

One day, one objective, built to be hard enough that you are not sure you can finish. The kind of challenge you measure the rest of your year against.

Athletes in headlamps gathering at the trailhead before dawn

Built on community

A small crew that starts together in the dark and finishes together on the rim. Strangers at the trailhead, teammates by the river.

A hiker in a headlamp and sun hat silhouetted against the predawn sky

Safety first, every mile

Experienced guides front and back, planned water and aid stops, weather and heat calls made early, and first aid on the trail with the group.

A line of hikers with poles moving along the inner canyon trail

Trained for it

A training plan starts months out, built for the climbing, the miles and the heat, so you arrive ready to perform instead of hoping to survive.

Expedition Leader

Eric Botsford

Eric has spent more than 15 years building some of the biggest names in endurance and functional fitness, from Tough Mudder and Ragnar Relay to leading the US launch of HYROX.

Before that he fought wildfire as a Helitack firefighter with the U.S. Forest Service and as an engine and aviation fireman with CAL FIRE, where long days carrying heavy loads in steep country were the job.

He is also a trained EMT with a background in wilderness medicine, so the person setting your pace is the same person ready to care for you when you are far from help.

He has guided expeditions with XPT and Wodventures, owned and coached at Good Times CrossFit, and today leads growth for WZA Sports. Unbound Ventures is where all of it comes together: real objectives, small crews and a leader who has carried the load you are about to carry.
